What to know about the Iran war:
- The U.S. military released the name of a third soldier who is believed to have been killed in an Iranian strike on a base in Jordan, and identified a service member who was killed in Iraq, bringing the total number of U.S. deaths since the start of the war to 18.
- American forces launched an 11th consecutive night of strikes on Iran, after Iran said it targeted U.S. assets in Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan and a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday.
- Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told lawmakers the Iran war has cost about $37.5 billion. Multiple sources familiar with the matter said the total cost could be far higher.
