EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) – An athlete with ties to the Tri-State has earned a spot on the USA Gymnastics team.
Elijah Connor, who trained in Evansville, will compete for the US Junior men’s gymnastics team in March 2027 in Stuttgart, Germany.
His mother, Katherine Boyd-Connor, said Connor has grown through his training environment.
“He loves the sport,” Boyd-Connor said. “He loves what he does, and we couldn’t be more proud. And he has just grown exponentially, thrived in his environment. He has passed Olympian coaches. He trains with Olympians from 2024. He is surrounded by excellence every day.”
Connor’s father, Craig Charles, said he recognized his son’s ability early.
“I knew from day one he had a lot of talent, and you know he trained a lot in Evansville, and I wanted to put him in the right position to give him all the opportunity that he could because I’ve always seen a lot of talent in him,” Charles said.
